The Wichita Coin Club
The Wichita Coin Club was organized in 1946 by a group of dedicated numismatists. Their goal was to encourage and promote the hobby of coin collecting.
Membership in the club hit its peak in the 1950s, with over 200 members. In the 1970s, the club was nearly disbanded due to lack of interest. Slowly, the numbers began to grow again and today the Wichita Coin Club is a very active club. Members share their vast wealth of knowledge with other members.
The club’s main focus is the continuing education
of fellow members. Each month, a program is planned. Example of programs have been on coin grading, collecting silver dimes, collecting fractional currency.
Members who attend regional shows and national conventions have also shared their experiences with the club.
There is usually trading at the club each month and a bid board which allows members to acquire new items for their collections.
The Wichita Coin Club is a member of the American Numismatic Association and the Kansas Numismatic Association.
The club is working hard to continue new growth in the club through the Youth Program. The club sponsors a youth at the annual ANA summer seminar at Colorado Springs, CO.
The Wichita Coin Club invites prospective new members to attend one of our meetings and enjoy the hobby of numismatics with the group.
